‘Howlin’ Jacks Record Store’ in fantastic charity drive!
A local record store has shown its support for Andy’s Man Club, Howlin Jack’s Records has raised money for the group by the sale of special edition T-shirts, a popular quaint shop in Cleethorpes that sees many regulars swing by.
Andy’s Man Club is a free-to-attend talking group for men who aim to challenge the stigma around mental health, allowing those who may be struggling to have a voice and an ear.
‘Howlin’ Jacks Record Store’ in Cleethorpes sold special edition t-shirts to raise money for men’s mental health charity ‘Andy’s Man Club’. £5 from every sale during May and June went to the charity and a total donation of £180 from customers was made to the charity.
On their social media page, Howlin Jacks’ Records posted this statement:
“A HUGE THANKS to all our wonderful customers who bought our special edition t-Shirts to raise money for men’s mental health charity ‘Andy’s Man Club’.
“You raised a whopping £180 and that is absolutely awesome!.
“You can find out more about Andy’s Man Club and the support they can provide on their FB page and Website, we also have some leaflets in the store. Thanks again, you’re ace!.”
It was founded by Luke Ambler who resides as the chairman and Elaine Roberts, who is a co-founder.
The group started in Halifax after the death of Andy Roberts who was just 23 years old. His brother-in-law Luke Ambler created the group to prevent families from sharing his experience.
It has since grown from just 9 men attending the first meeting to 17 meetings being held nationally. The charity has even received a Queen’s Award for voluntary service.
It has now seen a group meet regularly regardless of location.
Speaking to Gi Grimsby News, the group organiser said: “The word is getting out there that we no longer need to keep our struggles to ourselves, and that true male bravery is about daring to open up, not burying your feelings away.”
