Excitement builds for the first Cleethorpes Carnival in five years!
The first Cleethorpes Carnival in over five years is fast approaching and a spectacular Armed Forces weekend to coincide.
There have been businesses and local groups invited to join the carnival, which sees various floats of tasteful variety.
Those featured in the carnival have been invited to join the parade which will kick-start the weekend starting on Friday, June 24.
Organiser with the Armed Forces team, Andy Burch said up to 40 floats are already booked, including Phillips66, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, marching bands, and local dance and drama groups.
The groups will meet at the Grant Street car park, Cleethorpes, and depart at around 6 pm.
The parade will travel from Grant Street to Alexandra Road, where a panel of judges will be waiting at The Knoll to decide on the best floats.
Millie Alice Sayers, seven, will be Princess for a day and ride on a BMW convertible. The Carnival will also include a carousel and The Big Wheel to be situated next to Cleethorpes Leisure Centre.
The Carnival Parade will end at The Boating Lake, then in the evening, there will be live entertainment on a large stage.
Armed Forces Champion, Alex Baxter said: “We are bringing back the carnival spirit just like it used to be in the resort. We have the infrastructure for the Armed Forces Weekend and want to bring it back as part of the celebration of our armed forces.”
Through the weekend there will be a zip wire for fun rides, games, and Zorb Balls on the beach. Royal Marines will display a bungee run too.
The Red Arrows and Typhoons will give full displays guaranteed to be a spectacle for viewers and there will be a large firework display on Saturday evening.
