By Body discovered at Stallingborough level crossing
A body has been discovered following a tragic incident at Stallingborough level crossing yesterday afternoon.
A number of trains travelling towards Cleethorpes were cancelled yesterday, but the cause of the disruption initially remained unclear.
The crossing was closed for several hours while emergency services dealt with the incident.
It reopened at around 19:00, allowing traffic and trains to pass through.
Now, it has been confirmed that a body was discovered and taken away from the scene in a private ambulance.
A number of evidence bags were also removed by police.
Speaking at the time, a spokesperson for TransPennine Express said: “Due to an operational incident between Barnetby and Grimsby Town all lines are blocked.
“Train services running through these stations may be cancelled or delayed.
“Disruption is expected until 17:30.”
British Transport Police have been contacted for a comment.
