For many, Christmas is a time for festive cheer, but it can also be a particularly hard time for people dealing with loneliness, money problems, and relationship or family problems.

The Samaritans have warned that concerns over loneliness increase by up to 30% over the festive season.

That is exactly why several businesses across Grimsby and Cleethorpes have announced plans to open their doors to those in need on Christmas Day.

Howlin’ Jacks Record Store is open between 10:30 and 12:30 on December 25th, and will be providing free coffee, cake and mince pies to anyone wanting company on Christmas Day.

Music will be played and all are welcome.

You can find Howlin’ Jacks at 41a High Street, Cleethorpes.

Cafe Baraka is open from 1pm on December 25th, offering a free Christmas dinner to anyone within the community who wishes to attend.

Visitors are asked to book a slot by messaging via Facebook. Pets are also welcome!

The restaurant is located at 8 Osborne Street, Cleethorpes.

Cafe Baraka owner Oumar said:

“We are going to be offering all of the traditional Christmas food, along with some with a little bit of a Caribbean twist, so there may be some Jerk Turkey about too!

“Living in the UK I feel that nobody should have to be going without food, especially at this time year.

“So if you are feeling lonely this Christmas, or just fancy a bit of a change, please come down, bring your family, bring your dog and let’s have a wonderful Christmas.”

Cafe Baraka are currently fundraising to help support their plans. Their JustGiving page can be found here.
