Improvement scheme works move to second phase

The first phase of works on the maintenance and improvement project on Moody and Woad Lane has been completed and work is now starting on the next phase.

When complete the scheme will have a number of benefits for those working in the area, improving travel to work times and safe options for sustainable travel such as cycling and walking.

So far work which has been completed has seen the replacement of kerbing and reconstruction of the carriageway and footway on Woad Lane between Allington Drive and Estate Road 1, and street lighting has been replaced along Woad Lane and Moody Lane.

Before the second phase starts there will be localised traffic management in place on Wednesday 5 and Thursday 6 June, from 7.30am to 6pm in the following locations to allow for core testing to be undertaken.

  • Woad Lane between Laforey Road to Moody Lane
  • Moody Lane between Woad Lane to Westgate Roundabout

The second phase involves carriageway resurfacing and footway widening on Woad Lane between Laforey Road and Moody Lane. This will require a temporary road closure starting  on Monday 10 June for five weeks. During this time the level crossing will also be closed.

Advanced warning signs and signed diversion routes will be put in place during the closure.
