‘Loud and proud’ Twizadoras at Freeman Street Market!
A local business ‘Twizadoras’ sits in a row of brightly decorated stalls on Freeman Street Market, providing bespoke cupcakes, cakes, and wedge boards to all who have a sweet tooth.
Owner Kim has spoken of her fantastic experience so far being part of the market and has said what a hard working community the market and street have become. The stall features a dazzling decoration of floral patterns, which immediately draws your attention to the carefully crafted cakes and treats that are each made with a dedicated ‘personality’. “I provide bespoke cupcakes, cakes, and my famous wedge boards,” Kim said.
“My mother-in-law Joelle, I made a birthday cake for my partner, and she said I should do something with this, so I started experimenting with making cakes and did a box of 12 with intricate floral designs. I put it on a baking group and it got around 3000 likes, I was overwhelmed with all the feedback, which made me think maybe I should be doing something with this.” Kim said about how she first started, “I wanted to be loud and proud!”.

“I’ve loved it every day I meet someone new, see something new I wanted to bring something a bit different to the market, a pop of colour. It’s been pleasant, everyone has been really welcoming and I’ve had amazing feedback, which has really boosted my confidence. It doesn’t feel like work, I love it!
“I’ve been here since March, but what I’ve seen from the events here, it’s unreal. I’ve never seen the place so busy,” she added.
In February, Freeman Street Market in Grimsby was awarded a major national award and was named the best small indoor market in Britain. The award has been granted by the National Association of British Markets.
A spokesperson for the market announced the award via social media, tweeting: “Absolutely over the moon right now!
“Thank you to our amazing traders and local community for making this happen.”

Kim spoke further on her experience so far at the stall and talked about the market as a whole:
“I try to pull my focus for my customers to come to pick up their orders from here, a lot of people come here to pick up orders say they never thought to come to the market, you’re not going to get any better, it’s fresh. The market (team) is always working hard to get more people in and stalls.
“Lockdown really helped people focus on what they want to do, it put all my focus into what I enjoyed doing, everyone has realised what’s important and I think small businesses are really important.
“It is a community definitely, there’s always a different story to tell, it’s nice to have that diversity too. People have put their heart, soul, and passion into everything you see here. It’s become a hub.
“It’s seeing people’s faces, just to be able to be part of their special day, I feel special being able to provide that. For weddings, people take pictures of the cake and it’s so special as it’s made just for them, I try hard to get it right just for them, It’s not just a cake, I try to put people’s personality into it.
“That’s why I love what I do,” she concluded.
