Tory MP Neil Parish investigated for watching pornography in commons
Tory MP Neil Parish, who is a conservative MP for Tiverton and Honiton is being investigated for allegedly watching pornography in the Commons chamber.
A spokesperson for the chief whip said he had reported himself to the Standards committee of the House of Commons.
The Guardian reported “Mr Parish has been suspended from the Conservative whip pending the outcome of that investigation” the spokesperson said.
The office of Conservative chief Chris Heaton-Harris has said he “is looking into this matter”.
He told ITV News: “This behaviour is wholly unacceptable and action will be taken.”
The investigation has been formed after The Mirror and The Sun investigated claims that were referenced during a meeting of Tory MPs in Westminster the night prior.
The investigation reportedly centred on allegations that a Conservative frontbencher watched the explicit content in the Commons chamber, but it was not immediately established whether the MP was a frontbencher.
MP Zarah Sultana added on Twitter as the news broke that the person in question was caught by a fellow female MP.
A female minister has also claimed she was once “pinned up against a wall” by a male MP, as parliament faces mounting scrutiny about harassment.
International Trade Secretary Anne-Marie Trevelyan said she had been subjected to misogyny and “wandering hands” multiple times.
