Five bank holiday weekend local activities and events

There are a range of events and activities on over the weekend, with the weather improving locals can enjoy some of the following available.

There will be Clee SUP School’s first social paddle meet of the season on Saturday at 5pm.

The meeting point is Lacuna and launching from Brighton Slipway for 5.30pm followed by refreshments after.

“This is a FREE event and a great chance to meet the coaches for free advice, meet other paddlers and more.”

Whether you have a dog or not, pop along to the fun dog show on Saturday being organised by Charlie’s Angels Lost Pets and the Grimsby Canine Centre.

“You can enter your dog in one of the classes including Waggiest Tail and Fancy Dress.”

Featured at the dog show, there’ll be stalls, a raffle and a donation zone to drop off for dog items for The Ark and the Grimsby Pet Food Bank.

There is a chance you can bake your own pinata cupcakes with Riverhead Bakery on Sunday 11am to 1pm.

Bakers Nana Jan and Mia are there to teach and you can learn how to bake and decorate your own Pinata Cupcakes to take home.

“Suitable for children aged 7-11, this activity is bookable only and costs £15 each.”

Another activity for those craving tradition, Kings Dish Grimsby are doing a tour of their Grade II listed Smokehouse on Monday 2 May.

Located in Riby Street they are open 10am to 1pm. Intrigued locals will be able to taste some smoked fish and learn more about the smoking process.

There is also ‘Children’s Messy Chocolate Making session’ at Duffys Chocolate on Sunday 2.30pm. The cost of the session is £12 each.

“Fun for children of all ages getting messy with chocolate. Make and decorate a chocolate lolly, dip and decorate caramels, create chocolate shapes and maybe eat some chocolate along the way! See chocolate being made and package the creations to take home. Bookable places only.”
