Full road closures next week for carriageway treatments

Surface dressing is due starting next week, subject to weather conditions, will see full road closures around the area as part of the carriageway surface treatment programme.

This phase of work includes applying a bitumen emulsion spray to the road, followed by a layer of stone chippings which are spread and rolled into the existing road surface.

This process seals the existing surface from water, improves the surface texture and extends the life of the road.

Following this will be a second treatment which is undertaken approximately 10 days after the first treatment. The function of this is to lock the stone chippings into the new road surface, minimising any loose material.

To allow the works to be completed and to ensure the safety of those completing the works, a full road closure will be in place on the day between 7.30am and 6pm.

Works may not take the full day to complete, depending on the length of the street, but once complete, the road will be reopened as soon as possible.

North East Lincolnshire Council said: “Residents are asked to kindly avoid parking vehicles on the road or footpath in the immediate location to ensure a safe working area can be maintained. Access for emergency vehicles will be maintained at all times.

“Advanced warning signs will be in place to advise road users of the upcoming works dates.

“To avoid the build-up of loose materials on the highway, the contractor will return to sweep up loose materials after a few days. Residents are asked to move their vehicles from the road if they see the road sweeper return to allow as much excess material to be collected as possible.

“The council, EQUANS, and the contractor Kiely Bros would like to apologise in advance for any inconvenience this may cause.”
