Police cordon off Cleethorpes shop after suspected raid
A Cleethorpes food shop has been cordoned off by police this morning after reports of a suspected raid.
According to reports, the shutters at the front of the store on Grimsby Road have been pried open and a cash register pulled to the door in what appears to be a raid.
A police cordon remains in place while investigations are carried out.
It is thought Mini European Market was targeted earlier this morning in a shocking attack.
A 53-year-old man has now been arrested on suspicion of burglary and remains in police custody.
Humberside Police said: “Officers are currently in attendance at a business premises on Grimsby Road, Cleethorpes following reports of a burglary at 6:50am today (Friday 13 May).
“It is reported accessed was gained to a shop after the premises shutters had been damaged and it is alleged that a quantity of money had been taken.
“A 53-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of burglary and remains in our custody.
“Our officers remain in the area continuing with lines of enquiry to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
“We are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed anything suspicious, or if you was driving in the area at the time of the incident that may have dashcam footage to contact us on our non-emergency number 101 quoting log 56 of 13 May.”
