Arthurs House to ‘relocate’ in Cleethorpes restaurant shake-up
The owner of Cleethorpes based Arthurs House, which suddenly closed last week, has announced plans to reopen at a more affordable location on Sea View Street.
This follows a dramatic incident which saw two establishments under the same name close after repossession and forfeiture orders.
Arthur’s House was shut down last Monday after the landlord changed the locks and took back control.
Police were called to Arthurs House following reports of the former tenant having broken in.
The landlord confirmed that a new restaurant would not be reopening, but that a new bar would launch in its place.
Now, the team behind Arthur’s House have attributed the closure to the impact of the pandemic.
They say they plan to relocate and reopen in a more ‘affordable’ location.
A statement issued by Arthur’s House reads: “Arthur’s House, established in 2018, has been, in recent times, at the forefront of service and standards in the Sea View Street Quarter.
“The drinks, the staff, the management and ultimately the clientèle made our little bar something unique, in the heart of Cleethorpes, that has often been emulated, but never surpassed in terms of achieving the very best in hospitality.
“The unprecedented pandemic took its toll on the business, as it did on all businesses. Tough trading times affected the business, and we found ourselves in a position, even after restrictions lifted, that became untenable.
“We have reached an agreement with our landlord to relocate Arthurs House at another location on Seaview street which will be more affordable to this current climate which will open VERY SOON.”
Updates to follow.
