Former care home to be transformed into flats

A former Cleethorpes care home is set to be turned into eight brand new flats.

Plans have been submitted to North East Lincolnshire Council to turn the former care home College House in Cleethorpes into eight new flats.

College House has been vacant since 2012 and the building itself has since fallen into disrepair.

Local residents have previously complained of the building, stating that it is an eyesore on the street.

In recent years the building has also become a hot spot for fly-tipping, squatters and drug users due to the building being vacant.

Now, plans have been submitted by DBG Contractors and Max Design Consultancy to give the property a new lease of life.

Plans would see eight new domestic flats replace the former home, also providing 12 new cycle spaces.

Seven of the flats will be one-bedroom with the final flat being two bedrooms.

The ground floor would be converted into five flats while the remaining three would be situated on the second floor.

Plans were previously submitted by another company to turn the building into a 15 bed Home of Multiple Occupation but this application was denied.

The plans also outline bike storage for those living in the flats to promote sustainable travel.
