Suspect identified following Cleethorpes assault

Suspect identified following Cleethorpes assault

Following an CCTV appeal issued yesterday by Humberside Police, a suspect has now been identified and is in custody.

The investigation follows a report that a teenage girl was attacked in Cleethorpes, having been approached by an unknown man while she was sat on steps at the junction of Kings Road and Chichester Road.

During the attack, her mobile phone was stolen.

The man was sought in relation to the attack on Kings Road, Cleethorpes.

The attack took place at around 2.10pm on Wednesday 3 June.

Detectives investigating the report have since made an arrest and a man remains in police custody whilst investigations continue.

Speaking yesterday, Detective Inspector Rhod Troake said:

“This is a disturbing incident that has left a young girl extremely shaken and upset and we have officers providing support to her.

“A number of enquiries have been carried out including address checks for potential suspects as well trawling various CCTV footage and conducting local house to house enquiries.

“The incident is being treated as a priority with a team dedicated to investigating, with additional high visibility police patrols being carried out in the area to provide reassurance.

“We are very keen to identify and speak to the man pictured as he may hold vital information to assist with the investigation.

“I would ask anyone who believes they know his identity, or who has any information, to please call us on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111, quoting log number 246 of 3 June 2020.”

Humberside Police have now identified the suspect in the case of the Cleethorpes assault.

They have issued a message of thanks for the public’s support, but welcome any further information on the case.
