Cleethorpes man jailed for drug fuelled burglaries
A Cleethorpes man has admitted to and been jailed for three ‘drug fuelled’ burglaries and asked for two others to be taken into consideration when he appeared at Grimsby Crown Court on Friday 27 March 2020.
Taylor Easton, 21, of Daubney Street, Cleethorpes, was sentenced to four and a half years in jail for offences which included burglaries on George Street, Cleethorpes, Columbia Road and Durban Road in Grimsby.
Easton stole items including a handbag, bank cards, keys, computer equipment and a phone from at least three different properties. He later used the bank cards to buy goods.
Having been identified using CCTV footage, Easton was arrested on the 26th of January.
Andrew Bailey, mitigating, said:
“This offending smacks of desperation and the sort of offending that is fuelling a drug addiction.”
Easton previously spent three years in a Young Offenders Institute for crimes including aggravated vehicle taking, stealing a vehicle and burglary. At the time, he admitted to using cocaine, but said that he was now drug free.
He was on licence at the time of the latter offences and had been recalled to prison.
Detective Constable Nigel Morgan of Humberside Police, who led the investigation, said:
“Taylor Easton has not learned from his previous time in jail that living a life of crime will not end well.
He has caused untold distress to his victims, who he gave no regard or consideration to.
This sentence should give him time to consider his future and hopefully get the help he needs to tackle his long-held addition to drugs, which was often the reason for him offending in this way.
Hopefully he will learn that crime does not pay.”
Taylor Easton has now been jailed for four and a half years.
