Covid-19 helpline launched for area’s most vulnerable
North East Lincolnshire Council have announced that a new helpline for the area’s most vulnerable people has been launched today and will be operational throughout the Covid-19 pandemic.
The council are working with private, voluntary and community sector partners in order to coordinate the delivery of food and essential medicine to vulnerable people if they live alone and don’t have family, friends or social care services to help them.
A new dedicated helpline, available during the COVID-19 pandemic, launches today.
Councillor Philip Jackson, Leader of North East Lincolnshire Council said:
“Our helpline has been established in response to the Government’s announcement that the UK’s most vulnerable people should be ‘shielded’ for at least 12 weeks. It is for those residents who need help now, cannot leave home and have no one to help them.
Calling this number for other reasons, might stop someone who needs help urgently from getting through to us. Residents with non-urgent issues should visit the council website or call within normal office hours.”
If you determine yourself to be within this vulnerable category, and wish to access the helpline, you can call North East Lincolnshire Council on 01472313131.
Services are available between 08:00 and 20:00, seven days a week.
The helpline is for people of any age in the local community who are in genuine need because they are self-isolating and have no support network.
Those with less urgent needs, but who still require some assistance or need advice on changes to council services during the pandemic, should visit the North East Lincolnshire Council website, or call 01472313131 between 08:30 and 17:00 Monday to Friday.
