Are you hoarding some of the £1.5 billion in old paper notes?
More than a year after old fivers and tenners ceased to be legal tender £1.5 billion of them have not been cashed in.
The £5 note was withdrawn in May 2017 and the £10 note in March 2018 to both be replaced by polymer alternatives
The Bank of England says that 118 million paper £5 notes and 94million £10 notes have still not been returned.
Old notes are no longer accepted in shops. But people can still go to the Bank of England in Threadneedle Street, London, to exchange their outdated notes. Or they can be posted to the Bank of England.
