Having children makes you happier but not until they leave home.

According to a study, parents are happier than those without children but only when they have fled the nest. The study found that while their children are still at home parents are much more likely to suffer from depressive symptoms and be dissatisfied with life. Because of having to juggle family responsibilities with work. The author of the research said many parents on average had fewer depressive symptoms and higher life satisfaction if their children were not living at home. Researchers examined the response to people in 16 European countries who were asked to rate their life satisfaction on a score of 0-10. They were also asked about their quality of life and asked to judge their depressive feelings.

Results showed that parents wellbeing was worse when their children lived at home, but they had better well being than non-parents after their children had moved out.

Do you agree with these findings or do you miss the days when your children lived at home?
