Cleethorpes regeneration project – second wave of works starts on Sea View Street

The scheme, developed in partnership with local traders, will see a new layout applied to the street to help enhance the historic environment.

The works will be split into two phases on Sea View Street.

Phase 1 (Cambridge Street to New Road):

Sea View Street, between the junction with Cambridge Street and New Road, will be closed to vehicular traffic.

Works will start on the east side footway leaving the west side open for pedestrian access along Sea View Street and to individual properties. This will be followed by works to the opposite footway.

During the works traffic flows on Sea View Street will be reversed. Traffic will able to enter Sea View Street from Alexandra Road and will exit via New Road or Wardall Street (the cut through next to the Fisherman’s Arms).

This phase is programmed for completion in late September 2019. When this first section is complete, the works will switch to the top of Sea View Street.

Phase 2 (New Road to Alexandra Road):

Sea View Street, between the junction with New Road and the junction with Alexandra Road, will be closed to vehicular traffic.

Works will start on the east side footway leaving the west side open for pedestrian access along Sea View Street and to individual properties, followed by works on the opposite footway.

This phase will also include works in the car park outside the Natwest Bank, retaining the car park and make the area and paving more flush, to help make it easily convertible into a quality, multi-use events space.

Phase 2 will also include work on the Wardall Street cut through.

This phase is programmed for completion in late December 2019.

Pedestrian access will be maintained at all times on Sea View Street and all businesses will be open as usual.

The regeneration project was developed by CoastNEL, a local group with representation from a wide range of local businesses and the community, supported by the Council and ENGIE.

Funding for the overall project has been secured from the Coastal Communities Fund, National Lottery Heritage Fund, Local Transport Plan and North East Lincolnshire Council.
