Gossip Girl Reboot Not Returning for Season 3

Gossip Girl showrunner Joshua Safran has officially announced that the show will not be returning for season three on HBO Max.

The disappointing news makes the episode set to air on January 26 the series finale.

Joshua Safran tweeted: “So here’s the goss: it is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to announce GOSSIP GIRL will not be continuing on HBO Max.”

“The EPs and I will forever be grateful to: the network and studio for their faith and support; the writers for their devious brains and dexterous talent; the superstar cast for being the greatest of collaborators and friends; and the crew for their hard work, dedication, and love for the project.”

The news was met with an outpouring of disappointment by fans expressing their ‘devastation’.

One wrote: “Devastating news because i love this show so much. gratitude to you and the entire cast and crew and i hope the TV gods hear our cries so we have our season three.”

Another said: “Crying because i know how much you and us as the audience loved the show and it’s actors.”

Safran added: “This was honestly the greatest set I ever worked on, top to bottom.”

The reboot was a spin off from the original hit drama that ran for six seasons until 2012.

The series is currently in its second season and will conclude when it airs in the US on January 26.
