Former Cleethorpes Valerie’s premises finds new lease of life

An application to alter the vacant premises which housed the locally adored Valerie’s will now see work formed to change the building into a one-bedroom flat.

The application, which has since been fully approved, will ‘seek to change the use of the ground floor from a restaurant to a one-bedroom flat with various internal and external alterations.’

The property would see minor alterations to the external appearance. This would include the removal of the decorative shopfront surrounds and alterations to the existing window openings to the elevation that fronts Segmere Street, to reduce the width of these, the application stated.

These would be replaced to include white frames with the design to match that of the existing openings above.

The property will have new timber French doors and a single access door installed. Other works include the installation of a timber gate to enclose the bin store. Internally, the property would be reconfigured to allow for a traditional residential layout to include a bedroom, kitchen, diner and lounge with ancillary facilities.

To the rear, a new internal utility would be created to serve the existing flats above. The materials are considered to be similar in appearance to the existing and to reflect the existing character of the area.

The application includes outside amenity space, utilises the existing forecourt to the frontage and would see this area separated by a new garden wall and gate.
