Man forms petition following frustration over Cleethorpes toilet facilities

There have been issues highlighted following a successful Armed Forces Weekend, that adequate toilet facilities are not in abundance, along Cleethorpes Seafront.

Although the issue was particularly identified following the staggering amount of visitors seen during the weekend, particularly the Saturday, there have been prior complaints regarding facilities in Cleethorpes.

Now, from continued frustration and confusion over the lack of facilities, Danny Rising has taken it upon himself to form a petition, which has already seen 198 signatures of its 200 target, to improve the accessible facilities and extend an offering of more adequate toilets.

On their website, NELC has listed the available public toilets around the resort, however, the Grant Street facility remains closed. The facilities are situated on Kingsway, The Boating Lake, St Peter’s Avenue, and Sea Road.

“The portaloos on the seafront were provided by Oliver’s as they do each year and not North East Lincolnshire Council. The Borough needs more toilets along the seafront and much bigger bins during AFD in my opinion.” one user wrote, regarding Armed Forces Weekend.

In his statement about the petition, Danny said:

“After several years of seeing people, myself included, suffer from a lack of adequate public toilet facilities in Cleethorpes, it’s time that NELC took some positive action, and quickly.

“I’ve read all too many comments on social media from tourists and holiday makers making their feelings known on this matter, even more so since an estimated 180,000 attended the hugely popular Armed Forces Weekend recently.

“The current facilities simply are not adequate for where we are told NELC wants this town to be, and it is holding back visitors from coming more frequently.

“Yes, there are many bars and restaurants which have toilets, but this is not their area of responsibility, NELC need to be held accountable for this, and they need to take positive action.

“The toilets on the North Promenade were closed many years ago. Surely with the highly anticipated regeneration of this area to come, this would be the ideal time to re-open those?

“That would be a start at least. I need your help with this folks, please. One voice will quickly become drowned out.

“Please sign my petition for me to approach NELC with this in the correct manner, and hope that we can actually see some progress.”
