Rail strike planned over Cleethorpes Armed Forces weekend
Residents and tourists will have to plan their journeys ahead as strike action will be taking place over Cleethorpes Armed Forces weekend.
Due to a dispute over pay and conditions, rail workers are scheduled to take industrial action on the weekend of Cleethorpes Armed Forces.
The weekend hosts crowds of around 250,000 visitors, meaning many will be finding alternative modes of travel.
People from all over the area will travel to see the Red Arrows and the Typhoons display over the weekend, as the festivities kick-off with the long-awaited return of Cleethorpes carnival.
Over 40 incredible floats, ncluding Phillips66, Humberside Fire and Rescue Service, marching bands, and local dance and drama groups will travel the parade route cheered on by spectators.
The parade will travel from Grant Street to Alexandra Road, where a panel of judges will be waiting at The Knoll to decide on the best floats.
Cleethorpes Prom will be fully opened up to traffic and construction work for the new £3million RNLI station will be suspended and the Brighton Slipway road re-opened from Thursday June 23 to Monday June 27.
Sussex Recreation managers and Cleethorpes Cricket club are allowing vehicles to be parked on their premises and are encouraging people to help manage the car parks for a few hours each day.
Illuminated signs are at the main gateways into Cleethorpes to let motorists know the flow of traffic and where to go.
Flags will also be raised to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the relief of The Falkland Islands at 12 noon on Saturday 18 June at The Remembrance Gate in Cleethorpes, to be attended by a number of veterans and locals.
Grant Street car park will be taken up by many of the floats taking part in the Cleethorpes Carnival parade leaving for Alexandra Road at around 6pm on Friday, June 24.
