Protesters dragged away by police after storming jubilee parade
A group of protesters was dragged off the Mall by police this morning after they tried to disrupt the Queen’s Jubilee parade.
The five men were seen jumping the barriers lining the Mall leading up to Buckingham Palace at 10.10 am this morning.
Some of them lay down on the ground in front of a troop of guardsmen who were parading up the Mall ahead of Trooping the Colour for the Jubilee.
One man was holding a placard as he marched in front of the soldiers, who continued to march around the protesters.
Police officers quickly grabbed the men and dragged them to the side of the road and away from the parade.
The protest came moments before members of the Royal Family were driven down the Mall. The Queen was in Buckingham Palace at the time.
Protest group Animal Rebellion claimed they were responsible and said they were “demanding that Royal Land is Reclaimed”.
The Met Police tweeted shortly after the incident: “A number of arrests have been made of people who attempted to enter the ceremonial route in The Mall at approximately 10.10hrs today.”
The Queen is staying in Buckingham Palace for this year’s Trooping the Colour but will make an appearance on the balcony this afternoon.
The rebellion group shared their demonstration tow Twitter, adding that this summer they will be taking “bigger action than ever before” against the dairy industry.
