Road closures for Sunday’s Great Grimsby 10k!

As Sunday’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations fast approach, road closures are in place for the Ørsted Great Grimsby 10k in the morning.

If you are driving to London to watch Grimsby Town, roads on the 10k race route are closed from 8 am to about 11:30 am.

Grimsby Town Railway Station will also be closed, the station can be accessed from the Frederick Ward Way side.

NELC released the closures on their website:

Main roads affected

  • Town Hall Square, Town Hall Street, and East Street
  • Doughty Road
  • Abbey Road
  • Bargate, Brighowgate, and Nuns Corner A1243
  • Scartho Road A1243 (including roads accessed from it)
  • Louth Road A1243 (including roads accessed from it)
  • A16 Peaks Parkway from Louth Road Roundabout to Welholme Road
  • Welholme Road to Bargate A1243

Road closure details

  • Town Hall and Doughty Road area closed from 6 am
  • Race route closed from 8 am. The race starts at 9 am
  • Estimate road opening times:
  • 9:30 am: Town Hall, Doughty Road, and Abbey Road area reopens
  • 9:30 am: Bargate and Nuns Corner section reopens
  • 9:50 am: Scartho Road and Louth Road A1243 reopens
  • 10:45 am: A16 Peaks Parkway reopens
  • 11 am: Welhome Road/Park Drive and surrounding roads reopen
  • 11:30 am: All roads are expected to reopen.

Neil Pattison, race director at Tape2Tape, said:

“We are delighted that Grimsby Town have reached the playoff finals in London on Sunday, it’s shaping up to be a cracking day.

“The last thing we want is for travelling Town fans to be caught up in the race road closures. Please plan ahead and check if your journey will be affected.

“We will work hard to reopen roads as soon as it is safe to do so and we expect all roads to be open at 11:30 am.”
