Emergency services attending incident at popular Cleethorpes holiday park

Emergency services are currently attending an incident at a popular Cleethorpes holiday park.

Fire engines and police rushed to Cleethorpes Pearl Holiday Park, formerly known as the Beachcomber, this afternoon (10 May) after the building was evacuated.

The incident was originally believed to have been a chemical leak but Humberside Fire and Rescue have now confirmed that it is a gas leak.

A Humberside Fire and Rescue spokeswoman said the service was alerted around 10.50 am to a report of a gas leak.

She said: “The site was evacuated. All persons were accounted for and there is no risk to the public. We are conducting testing and investigations to detect any hotspots.”

According to reports, firefighters were spotted assembling specialist equipment near the entrance as staff waited safely outside.

The incident is also said to involve the environmental protection and decontamination unit.
