Adult cycling sessions with Lincs Inspire
Lincs Inspire is running Adult cycling courses to give people the confidence to cycle to work or for pleasure.
The rising cost of living with fuel costs and concern for the impact on the environment has led to many taking up cycling.
Adults in North East Lincolnshire are now able to take part in free cycling sessions, teaching them how to ride, gain confidence and support them in navigating their daily commute.
Meenakshi Rahul from Grimsby attended the first session and said: “The session helped to build my confidence. After not cycling, I feel I will be able to ride my bike in the future. ”
The sessions will be free through the Department of Transport funding in unison with EQUANS and NELC.
Ben Frary, sports and health improvement manager for Lincs Inspire said: “We deliver Bikeability in schools and our school holiday learn to ride sessions for children are very popular.
“To be able to work from NELC and EQUANS to extend this offer to adults will only help to encourage more people to safely cycle to work or to enjoy cycling for pleasure.”
There are three-course levels available, Adult learn to ride, Returning rider, and Confident Commuter.
Anthony Snell, Senior Transport Officer at EQUANS, said “Cycling has many benefits; from improving physical and mental health and wellbeing to reducing carbon emissions and cutting costs.
“We are delighted to be able to work with Lincs Inspire to make cycling a possibility for those in our community who haven’t previously had the opportunity to learn, haven’t been on their bikes for a long time, or want to take the next step in their cycling journey.
“We hope to see more and more people out on their bikes this summer, enjoying all the benefits cycling brings.”
