Water leak causes major problems on A18
A water leak which is said to have begun as the result of a burst main on Saturday is causing major problems on the A18 near Brigg.
Traffic is affecting motorists in the Monument roundabout / Wrawby Street area and on surrounding roads.
A four-way traffic light system is currently in place.
Anglian Water have already attended the scene and are working to repair a major leak, but standing water on roads and footpaths is continuing to cause issues.
Anglian Water said: “When problems with our network are reported to us we aim to come out and inspect them as soon as possible, within three working days, and then schedule any required repair work based on the severity of the issue that we find.“If you feel that the problem in this area has got worse, or have noticed that you have since been experiencing either lower water pressure than normal or no water at all, please contact us.”
A spokesperson for North Lincolnshire Council added: “Engineers are fixing a burst water main affecting Wrawby Street in Brigg. Please avoid the area if possible. Thank you.”
Long delays are expected until the work is completed.
A number of bus routes have been diverted.
Updates to follow.
