Welholme Gallery ‘under offer’ after years on the market
The currently derelict Welholme Gallery may finally be sold after four long years on the market sat derelict and in need of care.
The Grade II listed building has now been listed as ‘under offer’ by PPH Commercial who are in charge of seeling the former United Reform Church.
A statement from PPH reads: “The property comprises of a Grade II listed former United Reform Church which is currently divided to provide a main hall and church together with a series of offices, stores, meeting room, kitchen and WC facilities.
“There is a basement/boiler room and also a mezzanine floor area.
“Externally, the property benefits from being situated on a rectangular shaped site with access from Welhome Avenue, Hainton Avenue & Granville Street with areas surfaced for parking whilst the remaining is landscaped.
“The property is of traditional solid brick and stone construction beneath a series of pitched slate roofs with ornate windows and various period features, both internally and externally.
“The property however requires refurbishment but may suit a variety of alternative uses, subject to consent.”
The 1.6 acre property is being sold on the market for in excess of £200,000.
Back in 2019, John Fenty, former Humberston and New Waltham ward Councillor of North East Lincolnshire Council, told the full cabinet that the repair costs for the building could eqaure to more than £2 million.
In October 2021, officers from North East Lincolnshire Council confirmed that there had been interest in Welholme Galleries.
It is now hoped that any new owners would be able to take over maintenance and bring the building back into regular use.
