Humberside Police appeal for witnesses after girl fell from car on A180 yesterday.
The A180, which runs from the M180 motorway to Cleethorpes, near Grimsby, was closed temporarily westbound near Birchin Way after the incident.
A passing motorists reported that they had seen a young child being cradled by an adult in the middle of the carriageway.
Humberside Police released a statement saying:We are appealing for witnesses after a four year-old girl fell from a moving car on the A180 at around 4.45pm yesterday (Sunday 22 August 2021).
“The girl was travelling in a black Kia Sedona car which was heading westbound between the Westgate and Pyewipe roundabouts in Grimsby.
“She has sustained serious and potentially life threatening injuries in the incident and remains in hospital where she is receiving treatment.
Reports stated officers interviewed a man believed to be the driver and a number of items were taken from the vehicle by police.
“We are appealing for anyone who witnessed the incident or with dash cam footage to get in touch with the officers who are conducting the investigation.
