Local men in court for driving offences

Two local men have appeared at court charged with multiple driving offences.

The first Koi Yemm, 32, of Benson Court, Utterby, has been jailed following a collision in Louth.

He admitted driving with excess alcohol in his blood when he appeared at Boston Magistrates Court earlier this month.

The court heard how he crashed into three parked cars, with his motorbike ending up underneath one of them.

He has been banned from driving for 18 months, fined £120 and ordered to pay a total of a £119 in court costs and charges.

A man from Tetney has also appeared at Grimsby Magistrates Court, charged with various driving offences, including driving with cocaine in his system.

Simon Andrew Godwin, 49, of Church Lane, pleaded guilty on Wednesday.

According to reports, Mr Godwin, who was driving a white Ford Transit van on Welholme Road, Grimsby, at the time, was stopped and found to have cocaine in his system, which exceeded the limit.

He was also charged with driving while he was disqualified from holding or obtaining a driving licence, driving without a valid third-party insurance policy and driving while using a hand-held mobile telephone.

Godwin was sentenced to a total of six weeks in prison which has been suspended for 12 months.

He was disqualified from driving for 18 months, and ordered to pay £85 in court costs and a £128 victim surcharge.
