Hunt for men who sexually abused teenager on Cleethorpes bound train
Police are hunting two men who sexually abused a 17-year-old girl travelling on a Cleethorpes-bound rail service.
The girl was travelling on a service between Doncaster and Cleethorpes when at roughly 6pm on Saturday, July 16 two men approached her.
The men began making inappropriate sexual comments to the teenager before one of the men reportedly touched the victim inappropriately, asking her to go to a hotel with him.
Both men then left the train at Scunthorpe railway station.
British Transport Police said that several passengers witnessed the incident and intervened to protect the girl. They are keen to speak to anyone who witnessed the incident and asked any witnesses to get in touch to aid their investigation.
A spokesperson for British Transport Police said: “Officers investigating an incident on-board a service between Doncaster and Cleethorpes are appealing for witnesses. At around 6pm on Saturday July 16, two men approached a 17-year-old girl on-board the service and started making inappropriate sexual comments to her.
“One of the men then touched the victim inappropriately before asking her to go to a hotel with him. A number of passengers witnessed the incident and intervened. Both men left the service at Scunthorpe railway station.
“Officers are keen to speak to anyone on-board the train who witnessed the incident as they may have information which could be crucial to the investigation.
