‘The Soap Shack’ says new refill app could make a ‘big difference’
The Refill HQ app is available to download to your mobile device, to locate all businesses close to you at the time that offer free water refills every single day. Some local businesses partake such as The Soap Shack, Riverhead Coffee, Maranta Cleethorpes, The Paint Box, and many others.
In the workshop at The Soap Shack, Helen makes handmade soaps, bath products, and shampoo bars, with a retail shop to the front. All the
products are packaged plastic free in compostable and biodegradable packaging as much as possible.
“I also stock a whole range of refillable cleaning and personal care products from Toilet cleaner to shower gel. You purchase the bottle one time and then keep bringing the same bottle back to refill again and again. I also host bath Bomb making workshops and parties.” owner Helen Watson said.
The Soap Shack, a shop located at the Meridian Craft units, Cleethorpes, is also involved in the refill scheme and owner Helen Watson hopes it could make a big difference with pollution. “It could make a big difference to the amount of plastic pollution we have on our beach and in our water,” she said.
“This also helps to cut down the number of plastic bottles left lying around our lovely beach if people bring their own refillable. As well as free water refills my shop also offers refillable options for cleaning and personal care products, these types of shops can also be searched for using this app.” she ad
Refill HQ said on their website:
“Refill works by connecting people with locations where they can eat, drink and shop with less waste. Anyone can download the free app to find local refill stations near them. Participating businesses simply sign up to the app and put a sticker in their window, alerting passers-by that they’re welcome to come on in and get a refill.”
