‘Projectfitties’ celebrates the ‘beauty and significance’ of the saltmarsh
There are several events ‘Projectfitties’ are running together with Dynamic Dunescapes and Lincolnshire Wildlife trust, happening at the end of July. The events are free and funded by Arts Council England and the Royal Society.
The workshop features Poetry and Painting from the Saltmarsh with Artist Judith Tucker and poet Harriet Tarlo. The workshop is set for Thursday 28th July 11.00 am – 3.00 pm.
Projectfitties said on the event page:
“Come and join artist, Judith Tucker and poet, Harriet Tarlo on a creative walk/workshop on the Fitties beach and Tetney Marshes. We will explore how heritage and environment work together here: there will be tales of the Fitties and an appreciation of the beauty and significance of marsh and dune plants.
“You will have a chance to hear about their recent Hideaway project and experiment yourself with poetry, art, or both. All materials provided. Suitable for adults and teenagers.”
They also have a ‘Birdcraft’ session, which will be a drop-in session to learn about birds on the marshes and dunes. This session will be Friday, July 29, 2022, at 10:00 AM and at 1.30 PM.
“This is a drop-in session for everyone – no need to book, just turn up. Bring your brood to learn about the birds that live on the marsh and dunes, meet scientists who study birds, and join in with bird-themed arts & crafts.
“Perfect for keeping your nestlings busy this summer! Suitable for all ages.” They said.
The event will also feature a workshop ‘For Every Bird a Nest’, an art-science workshop ‘through creative visual art and poetry, we will explore the adaptive functions of eggs, nests, and parental behaviour.’
“Join scientists and artists for a stimulating exploration of past, present, and future bird life around the Fitties. Through creative visual art and poetry, we will explore the adaptive functions of eggs, nests, and parental behaviour, and how these may be impacted by people and environmental change.
The workshops will take place outside, and involve observation, discussion, and creative responses to what has been learned. Suitable for adults and teenagers.”
