Prince Andrew banned from public return at ancient Garter Kights ceremony

Prince Andrew has been banned from making his public debut at a historic ceremony today at Windsor Castle.

The ancient Gartner Knights ceremony sees members of the Order of the Garter walk in procession outside of St James Chapel before departing to Windsor.

The order was set up by King Edward III and it is the oldest and most senior order of chivalry in Britain.

Based on the original printed running order, Prince Andrew was set to attend and take part in today’s proceedings but was made to pull out last minute.

As his name was printed in the running order, senior royals including the Queen would have approved of this move.

However, according to ITV, Prince Charles and Prince William objected to his involvement as the US sexual assault case still lingers in the air.

He will now only attend the private events of today – away from the public and press.

The prince settled out of court over his sexual assault case in which Virginia Giuffre accused him of sexually assaulting her when she was 17.

The Duke of York pulled out of public life following a disastrous Newsnight interview before having his military titles and royal patronages removed by the Queen earlier this year.

The only exception to his removal from public life was at the Thanksgiving service for his later father the Duke of Edinburgh, at which he escorted the Queen to her seat.

Due to testing positive for Covid – a fact may have called convenient – he was unable to attend any of the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee events, where he would have no doubt turned heads and attracted media attention.
