New Jubilee garden planned for Sidney Park
A new jubilee park is heading to Sidney Park in Cleethorpes, with the aim of bringing together the community and making a change.
The Sidney Park Partnership has been awarded a lottery grant through Cleethorpes in Bloom to establish a community allotment and garden to grow fruit, vegetables, and herbs that locals can use in their own homes.
The group regularly works with young children carrying out litter picks around the park to tidy up and restore some community pride.
Now, the group decided they want to bring some colour back into the park, with a week packed full of fun events to celebrate the occasion.
A spokesperson for Sidney Park Partnership said: “We’re a collaboration between Cleethorpes in bloom, Vanel Group, Cllr Marie Green, and a group of local residents. We all wanted to bring some colour back to the park and create something the community can use and help us maintain. We have received funding from the lottery through “big local”.
“Our plan is to hold a week of free activities for families at Sidney Juniors Football Club, starting the 30 May. Hopefully this will get the community interested in our planned garden. Then we’re holding a Big Lunch for the queen’s jubilee on the 5th of June. We have entertainment, a DJ, magician, crafts fair, bouncy castle, and loads of games for the children to get involved in, ending our day by officially opening the jubilee garden.
“In the half-term week, we will be putting planters in on the east boundary of the park and sewing our first seeds.”
