Met Office: Yellow warning for tropical thunderstorms

Northern Lincolnshire is bracing for tropical thunderstorms later on Today, a yellow warning is now in place.

The MET Office predicted thunderstorms will hit the area between 1 pm and 10 pm on Monday, May 16.

There is a 30 percent chance of downpours at the time and temperatures will rise to around 20 C.

A yellow weather warning for aggressive thunderstorms might result in some disruption to the area.

The warning predicted thunderstorms and heavy downpours with 20mm of rain possible in two hours for some locations.

This morning, humidity rose to 89 percent at 9 am with temperatures predicted to steadily rise throughout the day across the region. Some

Sunny spells are expected before the thunderstorms are due.

After the storms, it will be a dry and cool night with some mist and fog patches in the morning.

Tonight will be the coolest for a period with temperatures set to rise throughout the week.

The Met Office yellow warning for storms across the region says:

“During Monday afternoon thunderstorms are likely to develop over parts of Wales and the Midlands before moving northwards into northern England and developing over Northern Ireland.

“These are likely to bring some heavy rain to places with 20 mm of rain possible in 1-2 hours but also the risk of hail and thunder. The thunderstorms will clear from the south during the afternoon then die out altogether into the evening.”
