Fury after weekend of sunshine sees Cleethorpes beach covered in litter

Locals have been left furious as Cleethorpes beach has been left covered in litter after many flocked to the seaside this weekend.

Images emerged over social media of the seafront strewn with litter including empty food packets and used tissues.

The warm weather brought many locals and tourists to the beach but unfortunately, they did not take their rubbish with them.

Many were quick to share their anger of the litter, stating that people should respect the coastline and the wildlife that lives on it.

One said: “This makes my blood boil. We have such a fabulous beach and coastline but why do people have to disrespect it like this.”

Others mentioned how other parts of the resort were also affected: “We took our two-year-old granddaughter to the sandpit on Friday and it was covered in rubbish, piles of dead leaves, and weeds. There are two bins near to it but they were both full and filthy.”

Another added how bins at the beach were overflowing: “This is shocking. But when we went down to the sandpit a couple of weeks ago the bins were overflowing and rubbish was blowing all over the place. Surely a busy place like that, Bins should be emptied a couple of times a day to keep it looking clean and tidy.”

Some added that the bins should be emptied more frequently to avoid overflowing bins and litter-covered beaches however many criticised the laziness of those who visited the resort.
