Two in five workers are anxious about returning to the office
Around two in five workers are anxious about returning to the office, research suggests.
Sky News has reported that around two in five workers feel anxious about returning to the office as life begins to get back to normal, following the coronavirus pandemic.
According to a mass survey of 1,000 workers, conducted by messaging application, Slack, many workers were “concerned” that returning to the office could affect their work-life balance.
Close to half of the survey’s participants suggested that ‘hybrid’ working is better for their mental health, but only one in four stated they could choose “if and when they worked in the office”
Around half of those who took part in the survey argued the cost of travel and food was behind their reluctance to return to the office.
Additionally, the research conducted by Slack indicated that only two in five said their employer values their mental health.
Chris Mills, of Slack, said:
“An employee who is cared for and supported will be inspired to do their best work”
“It’s positive to see UK workers highlighting that hybrid work and technology has an important part to play in their wellbeing”, they added.
“To ensure technology continues to be an enabler of healthier workplaces, leaders can also set a good example”
“Building best practices, for instance on how to use features like ‘do not disturb’ and scheduled messages to avoid out of office messaging, can be a great place to start”
