Tory MP Jamie Wallis charged over failing to stop after crash
Tory MP Jamie Wallis has been charged with failing to stop, including driving without due care in relation to a car crash in November last year.
The MP is due to appear before Cardiff Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday 10th May.
South Wales Police said Jamie Wallis, 37, had also been charged with failure to report a collision and leaving a vehicle in a dangerous position.
The crash happened in Llanblethian, Cowridge, in November last year, South Wales Police said.
The MP was first elected to parliament at the 2019 general election as a Conservative MP.
The Independent reported South Wales Police said: “Jamie Wallis, 37, from Cowbridge has been charged with failing to stop following a road traffic collision, failure to report a road traffic collision, driving without due care and attention and leaving a vehicle in a dangerous position.”
Mr Wallis said in March he was diagnosed with gender dysphoria and made history by becoming the UK’s first openly trans MP.
The MP had praise from across political parties for talking about his situation.
