Less than a third of Ukraine aid delivered
According to reports, Ministers have been criticised for the speed that which aid is being sent to Ukraine.
Allegedly less than a third of the £220m aid promised to them has been sent by the start of the month.
From the BBC, Commons international development committee chairwoman Sarah Champion said she was “shocked and disappointed”.
It states less than £60m has been handed out since the start of the month.
Foreign Secretary Liz Truss has also told the committee that the delivery of aid was being managed “at speed”.
She added that the department was “working tirelessly to disburse our funding quickly and effectively”.
The latest figures are currently not available to compare from her statement that was made on April 1st.
Labour MP Ms. Champion has said she was “extremely disappointed”.
“Given these circumstances, the government should be less rigid in sticking to the 0.5% target for aid spending”.
According to reports, there are 12 million people in Ukraine who need humanitarian support and a further four million who have fled the country.
Ms. Champion added that the British public would be “astounded” by the government’s speed at allocating aid, as many members have the public have taken it upon themselves to help.
