Wildlife Trust issues update about Canada goose at Cleethorpes Boating Lake

Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue has issued an update following concerns of a Canada Goose at the boating lake.

Members of the public were left concerned after a Canada goose was spotted with what appeared to be an injury.

After checking the bird over, the team decided that it is in good health and that the suspected injury was either an old fracture or deformity.

As it would be traumatic for the goose to be captured and put through a very painful operation, the team have decided to leave the goose as it is.

Cleethorpes Wildlife Rescue said: “We are aware of this Canada Goose at Cleethorpes Boating Lake – It has been checked over and found to be an old fracture/deformity.

“As it’s in good health and condition it’s clear that it’s adapted to living and therefore we have decided that it would be more traumatic for the bird to captured and put through a painful operation which would have a long recovery time when it’s doing well and isn’t suffering from its condition currently.”

Some locals shared their spottings of the goose, writing: “Hes a beautiful bird we regularly see him there and have done even last year.

“He eats really well, he especially loves the floating duck/swan food. His little top beak doesnt stop him eating at all and hes always with the others.”

Another wrote: “He’s so sweet! Will make sure to keep an eye out for him and give him a little extra seeds.”
