Incredible 300 mile walk from Edinburgh to Cleethorpes for charity!
A local man has undertaken a fantastic walking journey from Edinburgh castle all the way to Ross Castle in Cleethorpes.
Paul Le Roy started his journey on March 26 from Edinburgh castle, walking a staggering 330 miles back to Cleethorpes!
Stopping at some of the country’s most beautiful and scenic castles on the way, Paul racked up over 700,000 steps to raise money for Diabetes UK.
Thankfully, the weather held out for Paul’s walk, with his luck carrying over to his fundraising as he collected a wonderful £1000!
On Sunday (9 April) Paul arrived back in Grimsby cheered on by all his friends and family.
Speaking about his journey, Paul said: “The walk was amazing, and I met some fantastic people on the way. The weather was kind to me with only one day of rain which helped.
“People stopped me to talk, asking what I was doing as they had seen me the day before with a few donating to the just giving page.
“As to the castles got to see all I thought I was going to and a few more on the way. Stood on the causeway at Holy Island but the tide was coming in so couldn’t get onto the island.
“The welcome home was organised by my amazing wife Ashley Connor with approx 20 family and friends waiting for me on top of Ross Castle wearing masks of my image which was so funny as they made me walk up to the top. Then on to Willys, boots off and a few pints!”
