Police seek suspect after ASB reports

Officers in Cleethorpes are hoping to identify and speak to a particular individual who is said to have fled the scene of an incident.

Humberside Police were called to St George’s Fields yesterday evening following reports of a nuisance motorcyclist and anti-social behaviour.

On arrival, the suspect is said to have fled the scene, leaving behind a Nike backpack containing some ‘very interesting items.’

The bag was taken to Birchin Way in Grimsby.

Police are now appealing to the person to come forward and take responsibility for their belongings.

Speaking via Facebook, a spokesperson for the force wrote: “Reports of a nuisance motorcycle and ASB in St George’s Fields in Cleethorpes.

“Promptly attended and in the panic of fleeing it seems someone has left behind some items and the bag contains some very interesting items.

“If these belong to you we would be very happy to have a chat in regards what was in your bag, please feel free to attend Birchin Way Police Station to discuss your belongings.

“Hoping to see you soon, you must surely want your property back!”

Last year Humberside Police launched Operation Yellowfin to tackle the illegal use of motorbikes and the nuisance this causes.

The Inspector leading the new taskforce Mark Peasgood said: “Through Humber-talking and engaging with the communities the misuse of motorbikes has been highlighted as a real concern with residents.

“Taking the feedback seriously working with the partnership, we are committed to tackling the issue. Since launching, we have already spoken to lots of people in the community who have been really pleased to see our officers out on motorbikes.

“The team, working with the council will be looking to build and develop existing relationships with the local biker community, businesses and residents which will help support them to find and develop solutions to tackle crimes affecting them.

“I cannot stress enough how important it is for us to hear from our residents about the problems they are experiencing as this helps us achieve a better understanding on how we tackle the issues.”

Anyone concerned about antisocial behaviour in their area should contact the police by calling 101, or 999 in an emergency.
