Amazon van found ransacked in Cleethorpes

Humberside Police have launched an investigation after an Amazon van was stolen in Cleethorpes yesterday evening.

The vehicle, which was taken from Bradford Avenue, was found abandoned on Sandringham Road.

Officers remained at the scene for sometime after the incident.

One commenter on social media suspected that the driver may have left the keys in the ignition whilst parked.

Humberside Police have now confirmed that a male suspect has been arrested.

The 31-year-old has since been released while enquiries continue, but the location of the van’s contents remains unknown.

A spokesperson for the force said: “A man has been arrested following the theft of a delivery van yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 18 January) on Bradford Avenue, Cleethorpes.

“The van was stolen whilst the driver made a delivery, emptied, and abandoned on Sandringham Road close by.

“A 31-year-old man was arrested a short time later, on suspicion of theft of a motor vehicle.

“He has since been released under investigation whilst our enquiries continue.”

An Amazon spokesperson added: “We’re working with our delivery partner to help the police with their inquiries.”

Anyone with any information, particularly on the whereabouts of the van content, should call Humberside Police via the non-emergency number 101 quoting log 226 of 18 January.
