NHS vehicle damaged after object thrown from bridge

An NHS vehicle used to carry organs for vital transplants has been damaged after an object thought to be a rock or stone was thrown at it from a bridge over the M180.

According to Humberside Police, this is the second similar attack in recent weeks.

The incident occurred on the M180 near Brigg on 7 January 2022.

Fortunately, nobody was injured.

A spokesperson for Humberside Police said: “It was a dangerous act.

“Fortunately the driver was uninjured but there was damage to the windscreen.”

It follows an incident where a brick was thrown from a bridge over a nearby stretch of motorway, smashing the windscreen on a HGV on 19 December 2021.

Two people – a man and a youth – were later arrested.

They were released without charge due to a lack of evidence.

Humberside Police said they were investigating both attacks and appealed for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who might have dash cam footage, to come forward by calling 101.
