By Humberside Police seize 260 motorbikes in Operation Yellowfin
Humberside Police’s Operation Yellowfin has seized over 200 bikes after local residents shared their concerns and worries over motorcycle-related crime.
Throughout 2021, local teams were relentless in seeking out those riding their motorcycle recklessly and in a criminal and antisocial way.
In a 12-month period, the team seized a total of over 260 motorbikes, quads and scooters across Northern Lincolnshire communities.
The operation aimed to find long-term solutions to the issue, such as installing CCTV in problem areas to identify cultprits.
Neighbourhood Policing Superintendent Paul French said: “Whilst the last 12 months have been extremely positive, prevention remains key. Our local Neighbourhood Policing teams will continue to be out ensuring we are listening to local residents and engaging with the local communities to address any concerns.
“Whilst we will be proactive in dealing reactively with reports of this type of behaviour, we also remain persistent in gathering and developing information and intelligence about those offending – which helps us to deal with those involved and make our communities safer.
“Operation Yellowfin has been in action across our local area for a number of years now – and we consistently work together, with local partners and our local communities to bring about long term solutions. This includes designing out access to locations where motorcycles are repeatedly used in this way, in addition to enhancing CCTV coverage to help identify those responsible and hold them to account.
“Our teams recognise the pride our local communities have in their local area, and we very much share that – and we will continue in our targeted efforts to tackle those who engage in this activity and causing harm to our local communities. This behaviour is not acceptable and will not be tolerated.
“As part of this work, we are engaging with those who are riding motorcycles in accordance with the law and I would like to thank both them and our wider communities for their support.

Recently in North Lincolnshire, new Public Space Protection Orders were brought into action which prohibits performing dangerous stunts on a vehicle and causing a nuisance by riding a motorcycle or quad bike.
Those who do not comply with these measures can be fined up to £1000, followed by court proceedings if the fine is not paid.
