Appeal launched after Lincs boy found dead two days before 13th birthday

An appeal has been launched towards the cost of a funeral for a 12-year-old Lincolnshire boy whose death has sparked a murder investigation.

Roberts Buncis was found on an area of common land behind Alcorn Green, Fishtoft, near Boston, at about 10.20am on Saturday.

Today (Monday) would have been his 13th birthday.

A 14-year-old boy has appeared in court charged with murder and a 19-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder remains in custody.

The JustGiving appeal, started by Agnes Emsina, said: “Roberts comes from a single parent family, just Roberts and his Dad Edgars and therefore we would like to help with costs for the funeral and also to make this time easier for his family.

“Money is always right for everyone at this time of year, so anything that can be donated would be hugely appreciated, even if it is only a few pounds. Thank you and god bless you all.”

The £10,000 fundraising target had reached more than £13,500 at the time of publication.

Lincolnshire Police have issued a picture of Roberts Buncis taken recently with his dad.

A spokesperson for the Force said: “Our thoughts are with Roberts’ family and friends.”

They added the family would not be issuing a statement at this time.

Matthew Van Lier, head at Roberts’ school Haven High Academy, paid tribute to the “popular young man” and a special assembly was held this morning.

He also said: “We are currently in communication with the Executive Director Children’s Services, the police and other organisations, to ensure that we can provide appropriate support to our students and staff at this difficult time.”
