Dramatic morning drugs raid in Doncaster
Police smashed their way into a house in Doncaster this morning in a dramatic raid on a suspected drugs cultivation set-up.
Officers issued pictures of the scene after they obtained a drugs warrant for the house Palmer Street, Hyde Park, this morning.
A spokesperson for South Yorkshire Police said:
“A large scale cannabis grow has been located, and the occupant has been arrested on suspicion of production of cannabis and abstracting electricity.”
The raids follow discussions between the Council and the Police over how to handle anti-social behaviour in Doncaster.
Doncaster Council is currently looking at whether it still needs the current Doncaster Town Centre Public Spaces Protection Order, which due to finish in November.
The Council have said that they believe a renewed and revised Public Spaces Protection Order would help to tackle anti-social behaviour.
A public consultation is underway to assess the need.
Councillor Chris McGuinness, cabinet member for communities, said:
“The existing PSPO was widely supported and something the majority of residents who took part in the consultation said they wanted to see in the town centre.”
“We now need to know what people think about some proposed changes for a new, revised PSPO.”
