Is this rather an extreme reaction to a haircut?

A model who was appearing on a live reality Turkish TV makeover show was not quite prepared for what the stylist had in store for her. She had really long hair and when the hairstylist chopped off a mere foot of her hair the model did not react very well.

Even though she willingly turns around while he takes his scissors to her hair. She is not prepared for how much. The model bursts into tears trying to rip off her gown and walks away from the set but she faints on the way out and is carried away by medical professionals. The judging panel and hairdresser watch in disbelief. The hairdresser did not know what to do as he stood with 30cm of hair in his hand. The hair from the show is donated to Let My Hair Be Your Hair which is a project for cancer survivors.
