Call for doctors to prescribe singing.

A GP has said that if his patients go to a music group or a choir he does not see them as often. He has called for doctors to be able to prescribe singing as alternative medicine.

Singing has a wide range of health and social benefits. Music has already proved to help those with dementia because when singing there is a part of the brain that gets more blood flow. It can also help people with Parkinson’s disease.

Sometimes when you hear a song it can do something weird to you and that feeling is really important. Dr. Simon Opher said he needs to persuade the medical profession of the benefits.
